Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2018, the latest annual edition of a Las Vegas-based casino industry trade exhibition and conference, will include discussion on the up and coming generation of adult consumers.
This year’s G2E – taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States, from October 8 to 11 – will be the third consecutive edition to feature what is known as the Innovation Lab.
This was due to the “positive feedback” about such a zone as a “space for innovative concepts for the gaming industry,” Allie Barth, vice president of industry relations for the American Gaming Association, was quoted as saying in a Thursday press release.
The event is presented by the American Gaming Association and organised by Reed Exhibitions.
How to attract millennial customers, people who were born in the 1980s or 1990s, is drawing the attention of the industry.
Walter Bugno, chief executive international at global gaming supplier International Game Technology Plc, has noted digital technology is changing the way people play games, including casino ones.
For G2E 2018, the Innovation Lab has a daily theme, and will offer “perspectives on how the industry can advance into the future both through gaming and broader resort management,” said Ms Barth.
On October 10, a conference session on “New Terrain & Emerging Markets”, will include a session titled “Esports Gaming Converging with Casino Gaming”, with Edgar Pastrana, vice president of commercial strategy at Allied Esports, as speaker. Allied Esports is a network of dedicated eSports venues and content production facilities spanning North America, China and Europe.
Davis Fong Ka Chio, a Macau scholar and legislator who is also the director of the Institute for the Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, has suggested that the city’s casino operators evaluate market demand for eSports by hosting further competitions.
Another G2E 2018 session on October 10 will discuss “Secrets of A Social Influencer: Bringing Slot Machines to Millennials”, Brian Christopher, described as a “social media influencer” regarding casinos and slot machines, will be sharing information on how casinos can attract millennial players. He will offer analytics and insights on what he believes can keep casinos thriving among consumers in this market segment.
