Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd says one of its latest contributions to talent development and educational opportunities for young people in the city, is organising study tours for around 60 students for the 2025-26 academic year.
The initiative to help them explore “technological applications in tourism and leisure” including artificial intelligence (AI) is part of Galaxy Entertainment’s “Youth Science and Technology Village” programme, stated the casino firm.
The company has been co-organising the programme since 2023, alongside the Macau government’s Education and Youth Development Bureau, and the Macao Science Center.
“In the current academic year, the programme has expanded its enrolment and placed particular emphasis on enhancing AI-related training to strengthen students’ digital literacy and practical skills,” said the company.
For the latest effort, the circa 60 students visited the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards in Coloane – which Galaxy Entertainment says it helped to revitalise in partnership with the Macau government – and the company’s Galaxy Macau resort in Cotai.
At the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards, students saw the role of interactive 3D touchscreen displays in explaining shipbuilding techniques and the traditional fishing industry, and saw a video presentation powered by artificial intelligence (AI), that reconstructed historic scenes from the life of the shipyards.
Dirco Fong, multimedia consultant for the Lai Chi Vun Shipyards revitalisation project, explained how such technology is used for public engagement with the historic site.
The students also visited the Diamond Lobby at Galaxy Macau to watch the Diamond Show, that allowed them to witness this large-scale installation, which features lighting and sound effects, and mechanical movement, and learn about what happens behind the scenes of that attraction.
Galaxy Entertainment also arranged for the students to visit the “In the Mind of Bruno Moinard” – an exhibition with 300 original works by the French designer – while at Galaxy Macau, as part of Art Macao 2025.
