Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd is to launch a slot machine tournament with a prize pool of HKD27 million (US$3.5 million) starting on August 23.
World Slot Master of Macau will run twice a month over five months at The Pavilion High Limit Slots area at the company’s Galaxy Macau casino resort on Cotai.
The tournament will be the second in a series of events marketed as World Master of Macau and aimed at Galaxy Privilege Club members.
On July 24 Galaxy began an eight-month long baccarat tournament – World Baccarat Master of Macau – with a prize pool of HKD41 million and also marketed to Galaxy Privilege Club registrants.
The club is for the casino operator’s most valuable customers, and regularly includes offers such as prize draws for Rolex watches or Mercedes Benz cars.
Raymond Yap Yin Min, Galaxy’s senior vice president in charge of premium market development, said in a speech at the launch of the baccarat tournament that other World Master initiatives would cover food and beverage offerings and events and entertainment.
