Casino sales in August at Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), an operator in South Korea of foreigner-only casinos, stood at KRW35.08 billion (US$25.2 million), according to a Wednesday filing to the Korea Exchange.
The August tally was down 15.0 percent from a year earlier, and down 10.0 percent from July.
In its filing, the group did not give commentary on the reasons for the decline.
Table-game sales last month were just under KRW31.18 billion, down 18.2 percent year-on-year, and a 11.8-percent decline sequentially.
Machine-game sales in August were just over KRW3.90 billion, an increase of 22.8 percent from a year ago, and up 7.0 percent from July.
Grand Korea Leisure runs three foreigner-only, Seven Luck-branded, casinos. Two are in the capital Seoul, including one at Gangnam. Its third is in the southeastern port city of Busan.
The company is a subsidiary of the Korea Tourism Organization, which in turn is affiliated to the country’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In the first eight months of 2025, Grand Korea Leisure’s aggregate casino sales were up 12.2 percent year-on-year, to KRW283.93 billion.
In the January to August period, the firm’s “drop” – the amount paid by customers to purchase gaming chips – declined by 3.7 percent year-on-year to about KRW2.40 trillion.
Grand Korea Leisure posted a second-quarter net profit of nearly KRW16.96 billion, it announced in August. The tally represented a sequential increase of 5.3 percent. Judged year-on-year, Grand Korea Leisure’s second-quarter net profit was up 49.7 percent.
