Macau revenue from gaming taxes at US$2.1bln in first 2 months of 2026

The Macau government collected nearly MOP16.93 billion (US$2.10 billion) in fiscal revenue from gaming in the first two months of 2026, up 18.9 percent from the prior-year period, according to the latest data released on Thursday by the city’s Financial Services Bureau.

The February figure from gaming tax was just above MOP8.69 billion, the data showed.

Under Macau’s 10-year gaming concession system that started on January 1, 2023, the effective tax on casino GGR is 40 percent.

The latest data from the Financial Services Bureau show that gaming taxes accounted for nearly 90.7 percent of the Macau government’s nearly MOP18.66 billion in current revenue recorded in the two months to February 28.

The tax-take figures for a given calendar period and the city’s casino GGR during the same time frame are not directly comparable for several reasons.

These include the fact that there is typically a delay between the point at which GGR is recorded by Macau’s casino operators and the point at which the government registers the corresponding tax payment.

The Macau government expects nearly MOP92.53 billion in revenue from gaming taxes this year. The tally in the first two months this year represented about 18.3 percent of that amount.
