Malaysia’s Choong Kian Weng was named Main Event champion on Wednesday during the latest leg of the Asian Poker Tour (APT). He received HKD521,000 (US$66,800) in prize money.
The APT Macau 2017 attracted 118 players to the Macau Billionaire Poker room at the Babylon Casino on Macau peninsula, a property developed and operated by Macau Legend Development Ltd. The APT Main Event is described by the organisers as the Tour’s highlight tournament. The tournament also included 15 side events.
The entry fee for the Main Event was HKD19,800, and the prize pool amounted to nearly HKD2.04 million.
The APT said it donated 5 percent of the prize pool to the Macau charity the Holy House of Mercy.
