Macau casino concessionaire MGM China Holdings Ltd launched last week a new “MGM Responsible Gaming Employee Care Programme”, aiming to provide its employees “with a more extensive, sustainable, and efficient platform of responsible gaming promotion”.
The programme was “designed to enhance employees’ awareness in this field, which will contribute to the establishment of a balanced, stable, and sustainable society,” stated the company in a Tuesday press release.
The programme will be implemented through a range of activities, including roadshows, “pop-up interactive games”, online quiz games, advanced training, and courses on gambling-related knowledge, it added.
MGM China’s programme has support from several local organisations acting in an advisory capacity, including Macau’s Social Welfare Bureau, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau.
MGM China launched last year a “MGM Responsible Gaming Community Engagement Scheme”. The two programmes aimed to provide an “internal and external dual-track” approach, “which will not only promote social advocacy but also strengthen the professional skills of employees,” stated the casino firm.
Tuesday’s announcement cited Tian Han, executive vice president of gaming operations and strategic marketing at MGM China, as saying: “We aspire to leverage diverse and innovative approaches in this new programme to reinforce our team members’ understanding and execution on responsible gaming while building a solid foundation for the long-term stability and sustainable development of society.”
He added: “Moving forward, MGM will continue to collaborate with all sectors to further promote responsible gaming-related information by upholding Macau’s policies, in a bid to foster a healthy and harmonious society.”
