Bill Hornbuckle, chief executive and president of MGM Resorts International, parent of Macau casino operator MGM China Holdings Ltd , says he met China vice premier He Lifeng (pictured in a file photo), and deputy director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, Xu Qifang, in Beijing amid talks on “bilateral tourism”.
In a Thursday social media post, Mr Hornbuckle stated of the talks: “We discussed the continued importance of supporting bilateral tourism, including expanding travel beyond major cities and leveraging major cultural, entertainment, and sporting events to drive engagement.”
Mr Hornbuckle added, referring first to the chairperson of MGM China: “Joined by our partner Ms Pansy Ho [Chiu King], and my colleagues Fred Zhou [Feng] and Kenneth Feng [Xiaofeng], we also shared MGM Resorts International’s long-term vision for Macau and mainland China, reaffirming our commitment to delivering high-quality experiences that are both grounded in local culture and reflect the evolving expectations of today’s global traveller.”
He added: “It was a fitting and meaningful conclusion to an important visit.”

Mr Zhou (pictured above right next to Ms Ho) is president of China hospitality for MGM Resorts, and president and director of Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality, a joint venture between China’s Diaoyutai State Guesthouse and MGM Resorts. Diaoyutai MGM Hospitality has been developing a number of hotels across the Chinese mainland.

Mr Hornbuckle (pictured centre left above) said talks also covered tourism as a “catalyst for broader economic activity”.
