Singapore casino complex Resorts World Sentosa says it opened on Wednesday the 557-key Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong hotel (pictured).
In October last year, Resorts World at Sentosa Pte Ltd – a unit of Genting Singapore Ltd – announced a partnership with global hospitality group Marriott International Inc on the scheme. The hotel is about 15.4 kilometres (9.6 miles) from the Resorts World Sentosa property, but is offered as part of the gaming complex’s hotel collection.
A hotel on the site had previously been branded as Genting Hotel Jurong, and opened in first-half 2015. When in October last year, the Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong was announced, the exercise was described as a “rebranding”.
Andreas Oliver Reich, described as senior vice president, hospitality, Resorts World Sentosa, was cited as saying in a Wednesday press release: “Backed by Resorts World Sentosa’s proven hospitality expertise and deep understanding of Singapore’s tourism landscape, we are confident that Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong, will add vibrancy to the Jurong Lake District, and deliver compelling guest experiences.”
The latter is a reference to an urban development area that has been touted as a second central business district for Singapore.
Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong has four room categories: superior (pictured); deluxe; premier; and deluxe suite.
Superior rooms – at the lowest rack rate – start from SGD500 (US$387) a night, and account for 259 rooms in total, according to the Wednesday press materials. The most expensive are the three deluxe suites, with a rack rate starting from SGD900 a night.
The freshly-opened hotel is said to be within walking distance of the Jurong East Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station. The MRT and a complimentary shuttle service provided by the hotel also link to Resorts World Sentosa.
The Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong hotel is also described as being near Jurong East Bus Interchange and the Jurong Town Hall Bus Interchange.
The hotel is said to have facilities for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) events, and features a pillarless ballroom spanning 426 square metres (4,585 sq. feet) with a capacity for up to 330 guests per event.
The Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Jurong, is said to complement Resorts World Sentosa’s existing six hotel properties: The Laurus; Crockfords Tower; Equarius Hotel; Equarius Villas; Hotel Michael; and Hotel Ora.
Collectively, the properties offer over 1,900 rooms, suites and villas, per the update.
