Satellite venue Casino Fortuna, part of Hotel Fortuna (pictured) on Macau peninsula, is due to cease operations on December 10, according to an internal notice by the property’s promoter seen by GGRAsia.
The venue is run under the gaming licence of SJM Resorts Ltd, a unit of Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Ltd.
Casino Fortuna’s promoter, Kou Seng Holdings, said in the November 20 notice that it would “formally terminate the employment contracts with all employees on the same day” of the venue’s closure.
It said the “relevant compensation” would be calculated in accordance with the city’s Labour Relations Law, with the final salary and compensation to be paid “on or before December 26, 2025”.
The Macau operators that have directly employed staff at satellites have pledged to the government to absorb those employees into their core business.
GGRAsia approached the SJM group for comment, but received no reply by the time this story went online.
The closure of Casino Fortuna on December 10 will leave two satellites remaining in Macau, both of them under SJM Resorts licensing: Casino Landmark, and Casino Kam Pek Paradise.
That is after Casino Casa Real closed at the end of Friday (November 21), and with Casino Ponte 16 set to stop operating on November 28.
Last week, the SJM group announced that it would acquire Arc of Triumph Development Co Ltd, which owns L’Arc Hotel, for a total consideration of HKD1.75 billion (US$224.8 million). The property houses Casino Le Royal Arc, also known as Casino L’Arc Macau, which will be incorporated into SJM Resorts’ core operations.
