Macau VIP gambling junket brand Suncity Group has confirmed to GGRAsia via email that it will host a reopening ceremony on September 24 for a refurbished Suncity VIP Club at Galaxy Macau (pictured), the flagship Cotai casino resort of Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd.
“There are 20 tables in the VIP Club, which is the same as prior to the renovation,” said the spokesperson.
The email also affirmed that the area concerned was located near the Diamond Lobby entrance of the resort.
The reopening comes ahead of autumn “Golden Week”, a holiday period in China coinciding with National Day on October 1. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China.
Galaxy Entertainment had confirmed to GGRAsia in June that it had been upgrading facilities on the mass and VIP gaming floors in the phase one portion of Galaxy Macau.
The work was said to be part of the casino operator’s previously-announced aggregate HKD1.5-billion revamp (equal currently to about US$192 million) of, collectively, Galaxy Macau, the next-door Broadway Macau; and the StarWorld Hotel on Macau peninsula.
Suncity confirmed in its Wednesday email to us that it had a total of 18 VIP clubs in the Macau market, including the revamped facility soon to be reopened.
In mid July, Suncity Group had said it held a “soft opening” of a new VIP gaming club at the Rio Hotel on Macau peninsula. The property is a satellite venue run by third-party investors under the Macau gaming rights of Galaxy Entertainment.
