Macau casino concessionaire Wynn Macau Ltd has donated MOP300,000 (US$37,460) to Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop, which the company said marked “the 13th consecutive year of the initiative”.

The company said in a recent press release that it “has always been actively participating in social service activities to show care for vulnerable populations and underprivileged families” in Macau.

As per the update, about 40 volunteers from Wynn Macau Ltd “distributed food baskets containing rice, noodles, canned food, edible oil, and daily necessities to 375 underprivileged families” helped by the shop.

Those assisted included families linked to the General Union of Neighbourhood Associations of Macau, the Macau Federation of Trade Unions, and the Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau.

Linda Chen, president, vice chairman and executive director of Wynn Macau Ltd, presented the MOP300,000 donation cheque to António José de Freitas, president of the board of trustees of the Macau Holy House of Mercy.

In operation since 2013, the Welfare Shop distributes each month food and essentials to thousands of families facing financial difficulties, assisting households in disadvantaged neighbourhoods to meet their living expenses.

“Wynn has continuously supported the Welfare Shop … since its inception by donating funds or supplies to provide as much support as possible to underprivileged members of the community with the aim of benefiting more people in a practical way,” stated the casino firm.
