Macau-based casino operator Sands China Ltd on Thursday announced the appointment of Winnie Wong as its vice president of corporate communications and community affairs.
Ms Wong has more than 14 years of experience working in Macau and Hong Kong, according to Sands China. That includes spells in gaming, information systems, sales and marketing, and international business, the company said in a press release.
Ms Wong’s gaming-related experience includes working as chief executive for junket operator Guangdong Group (Macau) Ltd, a successor to the Macau VIP business of Hong Kong-listed Neptune Group Ltd. Prior to that, she also worked for CTM – Macau Telecom Co Ltd.
“Winnie’s experience and leadership skills make her well suited to her new role,” Grant Chum, chief of staff for Sands China, said in a statement.
Meanwhile, Melina Leong is leaving the Sands China group, according to media reports. Ms Leong said she wanted to dedicate more time to her family.
Last December, Ms Leong had been appointed chief operating officer of subsidiary Cotai Ferry Co Ltd, which operates Cotai Water Jet, Sands China’s ferry operations. Prior to that, Ms Leong had served as Sands China’s senior vice president of public relations and community affairs.
Ms Leong’s December appointment had followed the appointment of Lionel Leong Vai Tac, Ms Leong’s brother, as Macau’s Secretary for Economy and Finance, the official overseeing the city’s casino industry.
