The City of Dreams Mediterranean casino resort in Limassol, in the Republic of Cyprus, says it has provided a “rental free space” to the “Pancyprian Organisation of the Blind”, and hosted a pop-up shop selling handicrafts created by students at the “School for the Blind”.

The move is part of a collaboration between the casino complex’s promoter, Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd, and Hong Kong’s “We Can Dream Together Foundation”. The latter works to help people with disabilities.

“All proceeds from the sale of the collection of handwoven baskets went to the Pancyprian Organisation of the Blind,” stated City of Dreams Mediterranean in a November announcement.

Melco Resorts also runs casinos in Macau and a property in the Philippine capital Manila. In Cyprus the group additionally has three satellite casinos as permitted under its licence there.

The release on the effort to support Cyprus community organisations, cited Grant Johnson, property general manager of City of Dreams Mediterranean.

He stated: “We are privileged to be working with the Pancyprian Organisation of the Blind in this initiative, reflecting our commitment to giving back to the community.”

He added: “Through this collaboration with the ‘We Can Dream Together Foundation’, we hope to raise awareness about the talent and capabilities of people with disabilities.”

Christakis Nicolaides, president of the Pancyprian Organisation of the Blind, stated that his entity appreciated the effort by the “We Can Dream Together Foundation” and Melco Resorts, which “took the initiative to showcase and promote the handicrafts made by the blind”.
