Casino developer Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd and the Women’s General Association of Macau co-hosted on October 26 the annual “Best Mom Award” ceremony at the Studio City gaming complex in Cotai.
The latest edition of the event welcomed participants from various cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. The aims of the gathering included “strengthening exchange and cooperation” and “promoting positive family values and providing a platform through which the community can show gratitude and appreciation towards women and motherhood,” said a statement about the event.
Melco Resorts noted the annual awards continued to highlight the firm’s ‘Women’s Initiatives’ philosophy. This included the message of ‘Best I Can Be’, and supporting women in “embracing life’s choices and bringing out the best” in each individual.
Melco Resorts said the “Best Mom Award”, had reached its fifth edition, and been “well received by the community since its launch in 2019, with more than 800 participants taking part to date”.
The company stated a total of 167 local mothers enrolled in 2024’s event, and about 20 nominees from Macau and the Greater Bay Area were selected as “Best Mom Award” winners.
The announcement quoted Lawrence Ho Yau Lung, Melco Resorts’ chairman and chief executive, as saying that by extending the award recognition to mothers from across the Greater Bay Area, last year’s event not only celebrated “the contributions of women from cities across the Greater Bay Area, but also promotes deeper and more meaningful relationships”.
Mr Ho stated: “Melco’s ‘Best I Can Be’ Women’s Initiatives philosophy will continue to encourage women to embrace life’s choices, and to help them feel inspired by making such choices to bring out the best” in each of them.
He added: “In partnership with the Women’s Association, we will strive to build a healthier and more sustainable environment for everyone in the community.”
The release also cited Un Sio Leng, vice president of the Women’s General Association of Macau, as saying: “We are committed to safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of women and children, to advocate family-friendly policies, and promote the diversified development of women.”
She added: “We look forward to continuing to cooperate with all sectors of society and our sister cities in the Greater Bay Area to provide more diverse and meaningful services and activities, jointly promoting the development” of support for motherhood, and for “childcare.”
