The Okada Manila casino resort in the Philippine capital says it has pledged its commitment to sustainability in terms of the group’s environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) “vision” and mission, via its “Okada Green Heart” programme.
“This initiative highlights the dedication to reducing environmental impact, fostering community well-being, and promoting responsible business practices,” stated the brand in a press release.
Okada Manila is run by Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc, a unit of Japanese conglomerate Universal Entertainment Corp.
The announcement cited Byron Yip, president and chief operating officer of Okada Manila, as saying: “Okada Green Heart is all about embedding environmentally-responsible practices into everything we do.
“It’s a comprehensive sustainability programme with a seven-year road map based on the 2030 Agenda,” that sets out “United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,” he added.
Mr Yip said the programme ensured that Okada Manila’s efforts “contribute meaningfully to global sustainability targets”.
“We’re dedicated to reducing our environmental impact, promoting sustainable development, and making a positive difference in our community and the planet,” he also noted.
The Okada Green Heart programme focuses on six areas, according to the release. They are: waste management; energy efficiency; water conservation; staff development and corporate social responsibility initiatives; safety, security, and welfare; and responsible gaming.
The casino resort said it had established partnerships with a number of corporations, civil organisations and government agencies in a bid to “achieve its ESG goals and objectives”.
