United States-based casino firm Las Vegas Sands Corp has contributed US$250,000 through the Sands Cares global community engagement programme to the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC). The funds will be used for ACDC’s Healthy Asian Pacific Islanders (HAPI) Medical Center, API Language Link and developmental programme for high school and college students, according to a Wednesday press release.
Las Vegas Sands is the parent of Macau gaming operator Sands China Ltd, and it also runs the Marina Bay Sands casino resort in Singapore.
The ACDC is described as a not-for-profit and non-partisan organisation of volunteers “dedicated to building, connecting, and educating the Asian American Pacific Islander (AANHPI) community” in Nevada, in the United States.
The announcement said Las Vegas Sands had previously supported these three programme areas, but “provided additional 2025 funding under the youth development umbrella” to support a new ACDC programme for students considering vocational paths, “complementing its support for ACDC’s College Readiness Programme”.
The update said Las Vegas Sands’ previous contributions had “helped ACDC launch the Language Link in 2021 and open the HAPI Medical Center in 2022.
The release cited Vida Lin, president and founder of ACDC, as saying that Las Vegas Sands “has been an integral contributor to the impact we have achieved through the API Language Link and the HAPI Medical Center”.
She added: “We appreciate the company’s understanding of our community’s unique needs and its willingness to invest in helping us overcome the challenges people face, as well as in ensuring the young people in our community receive mentorship and developmental opportunities to successfully pursue their goals.”
According to the announcement, the increase in youth development funding via Sands Cares is enabling ACDC “to create a complementary programme to the College Readiness Bootcamp for students pursuing vocational paths”.
Ron Reese, senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs at Las Vegas Sands, said in prepared remarks: “ACDC’s services are essential to the AANHPI community as they meet both immediate needs for health care and food, as well as strengthen the community’s voice and representation.”
He added: “We increased our funding in 2025 because ACDC’s desire to create vocational pathways for young people completely aligns with our focus on workforce development and providing resources to fit all types of skills, jobs and careers.”
