Damian Quayle is to become president at the Solaire Resort North casino complex in the Philippines, with effect from July 1.
Since the autumn of 2024, Mr Quayle (pictured in a file photo) had been chief gaming officer at SJM Resorts Ltd, the SJM Holdings Ltd entity possessing a current Macau gaming concession.
His departure from SJM Resorts was confirmed on Friday in an internal memo seen by GGRAsia, with his last day at the company to be on June 20.
In the document, Daisy Ho, managing director of SJM Resorts, expressed “heartfelt gratitude to Damian on his leadership and contributions,” and offered “best wishes for his future endeavours”.
The SJM Resorts memo also said that a “new chief gaming officer” had been appointed, with further details to be “announced later”.
“In the meantime, Marco Ieong (senior vice president for table and slot operations) will lead the gaming team on an interim basis … until the new chief gaming office is on board,” it added.
Solaire Resort North, at Quezon City, outside Metro Manila, is operated by Philippines-listed Bloomberry Resorts Corp.
In his new role, Mr Quayle will work alongside Greg Hawkins, a former colleague from the Macau and Australia casino markets. In February Mr Hawkins was named acting chief operating officer of the Bloomberry Resorts group, which includes also the Solaire Resort & Casino property in Entertainment City, Manila.
Mr Hawkins was until December last year the head of Solaire Resort North.
Mr Quayle was – between September 2023 and February 2024 – chief operating officer and executive vice president of gaming at LET Westside, a hotel casino project being developed in the Philippine capital by Suntrust Resort Holdings Inc.
