Greg Hawkins (pictured) has been designated acting chief operating officer (COO) of the whole of Philippine casino developer and operator Bloomberry Resorts Corp, the firm said in a Tuesday statement.

Previously, he had been acting COO of Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Inc, the group’s operating unit.

Bloomberry Resorts built and runs Solaire Resort & Casino in the Philippine capital Manila, and Solaire Resort North, another gaming complex, in Quezon City, northeast of Manila.

The latest statement noted: “Mr Hawkins has deep hospitality and gaming sector experience in multiple jurisdictions, including the Philippines, Macau, Australia, and New Zealand.”

He had been appointed to the initial acting COO role for Bloomberry Resorts and Hotels Inc soon after the December retirement of Tom Arasi as president and COO of the parent company.

Last week it emerged that financial regulator the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) had reached a settlement with Mr Hawkins, who served previously as chief casino officer for Australian casino operator The Star Entertainment Group Ltd.

Earlier this month, Bloomberry Resorts Corp said two of its subsidiaries had signed an agreement for a 10-year syndicated refinancing facility worth PHP40.00 billion (US$691.1 million currently).
