Austrian gaming equipment supplier Novomatic AG says it organised this month the group’s annual “NOVO Company Day”, for more than 1,000 employees at its head office in Gumpoldskirchen, in Lower Austria. The activity is described as a “symbol of the company’s strong commitment to looking after the health of its employees”.
The NOVO Company Day, now in its sixth edition, was focused on “promotion of occupational health and safety” for Novomatic’s employees.
“The health and well-being of our employees is important to us – they are, after all, the very basis on which teams can be formed, innovative ideas developed, and long-term, sustainable company growth enjoyed,” stated the gaming supplier in a press release.
The firm added: “Our aim with the NOVO Company Day is to send a clear signal of appreciation and, at the same time, to demonstrate the importance to us of a motivating and healthy place of work.”
The announcement cited the mayor of Gumpoldskirchen, Dagmar Händler, who attended the event, as saying: “Novomatic is the biggest employer in our community and is therefore a core part of Gumpoldskirchen’s economic strength.”
She added: “I am particularly impressed by the level of responsibility shown by the company towards its workforce – from safe workstations to a strong focus on health and well-being.”
The programme included a speech by ultra cyclist Christoph Strasser; sporting activities; obstacle courses; and quick-reaction tests organised in cooperation with the Organization for Sport and Physical Exercise in Austria (ASKÖ).
Employees could also take part in practical exercises in safety at work, in which they received defibrillator training or wore virtual reality glasses as they performed a virtual emergency drill using fire extinguishers.
The local police were also at the event “to provide valuable advice on how to prevent incidents,” said the release.
