SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau operations unit of Hong Kong-listed casino firm SJM Holdings Ltd, launched on June 19 the 2025 edition of its annual “Health Carnival” event, taking as its theme “Self-health Management”.

According to a press release, the week-long programme aims to provide participants with access to artificial intelligence (AI) health screening technologies alongside traditional Chinese medicine therapeutic experiences, “forming a comprehensive series of activities designed to encourage team members to focus on physical and mental health”.

“Through these initiatives, SJM aims to foster sustainable healthy lifestyle practices” among staff, while supporting the local government’s “Healthy Macau Blueprint”, said the firm.

The opening ceremony of SJM’s “Health Carnival”, supported by a number of local organisations and associations, took place at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau.

The announcement cited Angela Leong On Kei, a director of SJM Resorts and chairman of the SJM Staff Welfare Consultative Committee, as saying: “As a homegrown Macau enterprise, SJM has always placed utmost importance on the physical and mental health of our team members and community residents.”

She added: “SJM ‘Health Carnival’ stands as one of the flagship projects under our ‘Healthy Enterprise Programme’, featuring multiple exhibition areas that showcase smart health technologies alongside traditional Chinese medicine wisdom, providing our team members with a comprehensive health management experience.”

Aside from exhibition areas, health promotion booths and dedicated health and fitness assessment stations, staff restaurants at SJM-managed properties simultaneously introduced “healthier menu options … to promote balanced nutrition”.

SJM also said it has implemented “multiple health promotion initiatives” since January 2024. These include establishing self-health monitoring stations in staff areas; launching the “SJM Cares” support hotline; providing healthier dining options; and regularly sharing health-related information.

To date, the company said it has organised over 40 health promotion seminars and outreach activities, attracting more than 28,000 participants in total. The casino firm has also opened selected activities to Macau residents, it added.
