Macau casino concessionaire Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd has been supporting talented young musicians in the city via a “Macao Orchestra Meet the Musicians” event. It was held on June 28 at the gaming group’s majority-owned Studio City property, according to a press release.

The exchange session featured Macao Orchestra assistant conductor, Tony Cheng-Te Yeh, as well as: Wang Yue, first violin; Cao Hui, second violin; Li Yueying, viola; Yan Feng, cello, and Tibor Tóth, principal double bass.

The event was open to local community members, Melco Resorts’ parent-and-child volunteers, and students from The School of Music of Macao Conservatory, and the Academia de Música São Pio X.

The Macao Orchestra musicians taking part, explained to the audience “the intricacy of string chamber music,” sharing their “exclusive understanding” of the “qualities of various instruments and their repertoire,” said the announcement.

The update cited Clarence Chung, Melco Resorts’ board director, as stating: “We are thankful to work with the Macao Orchestra’s professional members once again in the latest strings-focused session of the ‘Meet the Musicians’ event”.

He added: “We continue to be devoted to enhancing Macau’s status as a ‘City of Performing Arts’, as we contribute towards youth talent development for the city’s healthy and continued growth.”

The “Macao Orchestra Meet the Musicians” event is described as part of the casino firm’s “long-term talent development initiatives which endeavour to provide inspirational opportunities to local youth by offering exposure to world-class maestros in the fields of arts and innovation”.
