A team of volunteers representing the Lisboeta Macau hotel complex in Cotai and the L’Arc Macau casino hotel located in downtown Macau, visited the Macau Deaf Association Centro de Apoio a Surdos, on July 17.
In a press release issued that day, the event organisers said the visit aimed to “raise public awareness and promote deeper understanding of the hearing-impaired community, contributing to the creation of a more friendly and barrier-free society”.
During the visit, the volunteer team engaged with association members through a series of activities. They included: a basic sign language lesson; a simulation of what it’s like to be deaf or hearing impaired; and interactive games.
The organisers said it was to help volunteers “better understand the daily realities and resilience of living in a silent world and to experience emotional connections that go beyond words”.
As the event concluded, the volunteer team presented specially-prepared gifts, and conveyed warm wishes through smiles and sign language, said the update.
“In the future, Lisboeta Macau and L’Arc Macau will keep working closely with local charitable organisations and actively connect with diverse community groups to build a more inclusive and sustainable community,” added the press release about the event.
The L’Arc Macau casino operates under the gaming licence of SJM Holdings Ltd.
