Communities in Luzon in the Philippines affected by three tropical storms at short intervals in July – Typhoons Dante, Crising, and Emong – have been supported via a relief-work effort by the FBM Foundation.

The FBM Foundation work across Luzon saw it prepare and distribute on July 27 a total of 1,000 “relief packages” with essentials, in Batangas City, Caloocan City, and Quezon City.

FBM Foundation supports humanitarian efforts to help Filipino communities affected by natural disasters. Its work is coordinated by the FBM brand, a maker of casino slot machines and an international specialist in electronic bingo machines.

“This gesture offered essential support to hundreds of families facing loss and displacement,” said the foundation in a prepared statement.

The effort – featuring 12 volunteers – was led by Pepe Costa, FBM Foundation representative in the Philippines, and Lulu Barreras, Community Service Project Coordinator at FBM Foundation.

The first stop of the support operation was Batangas City, where 500 relief packs were handed out to families affected by rising floodwaters.

The local officials “expressed heartfelt gratitude for the foundation’s committed support and active role in ensuring the relief operations were conducted in an orderly and compassionate manner,” said the statement.

The second destination for relief support was Barangay 176-C in Caloocan City, where 200 families received emergency supplies.

The statement said the area had been affected due to “poor drainage and non-stop rains”.

Finally, the relief-support team reached Barangay Talayan, in Quezon City, where 300 relief packages were delivered to flood-stricken residents.
