The 26th Annual Golf Classic has raised US$180,000 to support research efforts by the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG), according to a written announcement.

This year’s contribution “pushed the Golf Classic past a major milestone,” with the total raised over the tournament’s history surpassing US$3.0 million, said the ICRG.

The “AGEM & AGA Golf Classic Presented by JCM Global” was created specifically to “support the ICRG’s important research into the prevention and treatment of gambling disorder,” stated the update.

Sponsors included the American Gaming Association (AGA), the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers (AGEM), and Japan Cash Machine Co Ltd, also known as JCM Global. Among other sponsors were Aristocrat Gaming, Gaming Laboratories International, Konami, and Light & Wonder.

ICRG’s president Michael Soll said in prepared remarks: “We are grateful again for the many companies and organisations who have supported the Global Classic and are especially grateful to JCM Global for their amazing leadership since the tournament’s inception.”

According to Mr Soll, the funds raised by the event “support ICRG’s research and education efforts that will serve to inform legislators, regulators and the media to assure that they make informed decisions regarding responsible gaming”.

The announcement cited Dave Kubajak, JCM’s senior vice president for sales, marketing and operations, as saying: “We’re grateful to the players and sponsors whose support helped us reach this remarkable fundraising milestone.

“What made this year’s event especially meaningful was the broad representation from across our industry – operators, suppliers, independent test labs, land-based, iGaming, race and sports – all coming together to support ICRG and advance responsible gaming research.”
