Macau casino operator Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd has appointed a new company secretary and authorised representative on the retirement of the incumbent. The firm’s new official in those roles with effect from Wednesday (August 13) is Chong Wai Sang, a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong.
An announcement to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange stated Mr Chong has “extensive experience in advising on corporate and commercial legal matters, as well as compliance issues for Hong Kong listed companies, and in company secretarial practice, for over 20 years.”
He takes over from Jenifer Sin Li Mei Wah, who retired as company secretary and authorised representative with effect from Wednesday.
She had been in the post since 2022. She had previously been company secretary for Galaxy Entertainment from November 2010 to December 2020.
The company stated in a Tuesday filing that the outgoing company secretary “has confirmed that she has no disagreement with the board and is not aware of any matter relating to her retirement that needs to be brought to the attention of the stock exchange and the shareholders of Galaxy Entertainment Group”.
The statement added: “The board would like to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to Mrs Sin for her service and valuable contribution to Galaxy Entertainment Group during her tenure of office and also express its warm welcome to Mr Chong on his appointment.”
On Tuesday the casino group had reported a first-half profit of HKD5.24 billion (US$667.6 million), up 19.4 percent from the prior-year period. The firm also announced an interim dividend of HKD0.7 per share, payable on October 31.
