Casino sales for the promoter of Jeju Dream Tower, a resort with foreigner-only casino (pictured) on Jeju island, South Korea, rose 30.5 percent year-on-year in August, to nearly KRW42.99 billion (US$30.8 million). Last month’s tally was down 1.0 percent from July.
Casino sales are net sales after deducting from gross sales certain items including commissions paid to agents.
The information was given in a Monday filing to the Korea Exchange by Jeju Dream Tower’s promoter, Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd.
Last month’s table game sales at the property were KRW41.17 billion, a 38.5-percent increase on the prior-year period, and was slightly up sequentially.
Machine-game sales actually fell year-on-year in August, by 43.5 percent, to KRW1.82 billion. Relative to July, such sales went down 2.2 percent.
The number of visitors to the casino rose 52.1 percent year-on-year in August, to 57,042. Month-on-month, the visitor tally rose 0.6 percent.
August’s hotel sales at the complex were KRW8.37 billion, a 15.7-percent decline year-on-year, but up 6.1 percent sequentially.
Casino sales at Jeju Dream Tower for the first eight months this year stood at nearly KRW280.99 billion, up 46.1 percent from a year earlier.
Casino drop for the calendar year to August 31 was just above KRW1.51 trillion, a year-on-year gain of 53.6 percent.
The gaming area’s visitor volume for the first eight months this year was 371,839, up 56.4 percent from the prior-year period.
The resort’s hotel sales for the January to August period were nearly KRW52.22 billion, down 11.5 percent year-on-year.
