Inspire Entertainment Resort, a complex with foreigner-only casino at Incheon in South Korea, says it has conducted a “resource circulation project” by creating upcycled benches using waste linen generated at the property.
The project was part of the ‘Inspire Play Green Campaign’, to mark the “Resource Circulation Month” in September, said the property’s promoter in a recent press release.
Ten eco-friendly, upcycled benches were donated to three schools in the Incheon area, according to the announcement.
The initiative – done in partnership with resource circulation platform Giving Plus – aimed at “sharing the value of sustainable resource circulation with the future generation of the local community,” it added.
The complex’s promoter said about 500 kilograms of waste linen were repurposed using patented upcycling technology from South Korea-based company Sejin Plus.
“This upcycling project is estimated to have a carbon reduction effect equivalent to planting 32 pine trees,” stated the release.
Aside from donating the benches, Inspire said it also had supported the implementation of the ‘Eco Heroes Environmental Education’ programme across the three schools.
“This programme enabled students to learn about plastic waste issues and the importance of resource recycling in hands-on workshops led by professional upcycling instructors,” said the promoter.
The announcement cited a representative from Inspire as saying: “It is deeply meaningful to realise resource recycling for environmental protection and provide future generations in our community with a first-hand experience of its importance.”
The ‘Inspire Play Green Campaign’ is described as part of the complex’s commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.
In June, Inspire launched an environmental project to ensure the sustainable disposal of waste generated from resort operations.
That project established a circular system for timely collection and recycling of materials such as coffee grounds and waste linen.
