Macau casino concessionaire Sands China Ltd organised a “Responsible Gaming Parent-Child Happy Carnival” in late August, where about 160 of its employees, members of local non-governmental organisations (ONGs), and their children “enjoyed an afternoon of fun activities while learning about good financial habits”.
The event, held in partnership with five local NGOs for a third straight year, aimed to “support the Macau government’s ‘Seeking Help for Winning the Future’ responsible gaming theme,” stated the casino firm in a press release.
“The carnival featured 12 fun and interactive activities to demonstrate the importance of parental engagement in teaching children healthy financial management concepts,” said the company.
The announcement cited Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, executive vice chairman of Sands China, as saying: “Debuting as Macau’s first responsible gaming-themed carnival in 2023, the event has been educating children in a fun way to help them understand the importance of learning how to spend, save, and make rational decisions.”
He added: “We firmly believe that the only way to instil the concept of responsible gaming in every corner of the community is to continuously put effort into the promotion of education and prevention, fostering the robust and sustainable development of the industry.”
The event was co-organised by: the Sheng Kung Hui Macau Social Services Coordination Office; the Young Men’s Christian Association of Macau; the Macao Gaming Industry Employees Home; the Youth Volunteers Association of Macao; and the Macao Bosco Youth Service Network.
It was supported by the Macau’s government Social Welfare Bureau, the Education and Youth Development Bureau, the University of Macau, and the Macao Polytechnic University.
