Philippine-listed and licensed online gaming operator DigiPlus Interactive Corp says it has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with bills payment service provider Bayad “to expand over-the-counter (OTC) or physical payment options” for players of DigiPlus’ online platforms.
In the Philippines, DigiPlus runs BingoPlus, described as the country’s first government-approved online bingo platform. It also operates ArenaPlus, a sportsbook, and GameZone, a platform for casual and arcade gaming.
The agreement was signed on Wednesday, making DigiPlus the “only gaming partner” for Bayad regarding OTC cash transactions, according to a Wednesday press release.
Bayad is accredited by the country’s central bank, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, as an electronic money issuer (EMI).
DigiPlus said users of the group’s BingoPlus, ArenaPlus, and GameZone platforms “can now make cash-ins or deposits through Bayad”.
As per the announcement, DigiPlus’ customers “gain access to Bayad’s extensive network of payment touchpoints … across 800-plus Bayad Center branches and Bayad Partners in malls, supermarkets, and convenience stores nationwide”.
Other features, such as cash-outs or withdrawals and access through the Bayad mobile application, “will be rolled out in next phases, providing DigiPlus customers with more options to manage their funds conveniently and safely,” stated the online gaming operator.
The release cited Eusebio Tanco, chairman of DigiPlus, as saying the company’s “priority” was to “deliver engaging entertainment while ensuring safe and reliable services” to its customers.
“This partnership with Bayad provides customers with more secure and convenient ways to manage their transactions, reinforcing our commitment to player protection and dependable service at every touchpoint,” stated Mr Tanco (pictured, second from left).
Ray Espinosa (pictured, second from right), chairman of the board at Bayad, described the partnership with DigiPlus as “another meaningful step forward”.
He added: “Together, we’re expanding access to digital channels and offering new, engaging, and responsible ways for Filipinos to experience convenience and entertainment made possible by accessible and inclusive financial services.”
DigiPlus was part of a number of online gambling operators in the Philippines that recently agreed to set up “PlaySafe Alliance of the Philippines” to ensure high standards in the industry.
In August, members of the Philippines’ Senate began discussing stricter regulation of the country’s online gambling sector, including bills proposing a ban. Amid the public debate, the Philippines’ central bank ordered providers of electronic wallets (e-wallets) and other digital payment systems to remove links that provided access from their interfaces to online gambling platforms in the country.
DigiPlus is also progressing with its plans to expand overseas. In late September, the company said it had “formally filed” three online-related licence applications with the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) in South Africa.
On September 22, DigiPlus launched its first international brand, GamePlus, in Brazil. The firm said it is targeting to launch “BingoPlus” as its second platform in Brazil in 2026.
