Lotte Tour Development Co Ltd, promoter of South Korea casino resort Jeju Dream Tower, said its casino sales in October rose 108.4 percent year-on-year to KRW50.44 billion (US$35.31 million). That is according to a filing lodged on Monday with the Korea Exchange.
Judged sequentially, October casino sales were down 4.7 percent from the nearly KRW52.95 billion achieved in September, the latter a record-high monthly figure since the foreigner-only casino at Jeju Dream Tower (pictured in file photo) began operation from January 2022.
In October, casino sales generated from gaming tables at the property reached KRW48.38 billion, up 109.1 percent from a year ago, but down 5.3 percent from September.
Sales from gaming machine operations stood at KRW2.06 billion in October, up 94.6 percent from a year ago, and up 12.4 percent from September.
The casino operator also reported that its October casino table drop – the amount paid by customers to purchase chips for table games – rose 87.4 percent year-on-year to KRW256.84 billion. The figure was down 3.4 percent from September’s KRW265.80 billion, a record-high monthly figure.
The company did not explain the variations in its latest reported sales figures in the filing.
Lotte Tour did note it recorded 58,166 casino visits at Jeju Dream Tower in October, down about 1.5 percent from September, but up 55.9 percent from a year ago, according to the company’s supplementary business performance data published on its official website.
The latest October figures took Lotte Tour’s aggregate casino sales for the first 10 months of this year to nearly KRW384.38 billion, up 56.9 percent from the KRW244.97 billion in the prior-year period.
The casino operator’s aggregate casino table drop for the January to October period was nearly KRW2.04 trillion, an increase of 62.7 percent year-on-year.
Lotte Tour’s hotel sales reached KRW7.44 billion, up 7.3 percent from September, but down 3.3 percent from the same month a year ago. Cumulative hotel sales for the first ten months of this year stood at nearly KRW66.59 billion, representing a year-on-year decrease of 9.4 percent.
