Sands China Ltd has donated MOP700,000 (US$87,419) to the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society, in support of the non-governmental organisation’s (NGO’s) annual fundraising campaign, said the casino firm in a recent press release.
The company said it was its “22nd consecutive year of donating and fully supporting the promotion of Tung Sin Tong’s various charitable services”.
Tung Sin Tong was founded in 1892, and is presently considered one of the most important poverty-relief -focused Chinese organisations in Macau, providing free medical services, medicine, and education to people in need.
Besides the annual donation, Sands China said its support this year included inviting Tung Sin Tong Pharmacy to participate in the “2025 Sands Shopping Carnival” in July.
The company said it is using its annual signature event to “actively contribute to the popularisation and development” of the local traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and health industries, “while further deepening public awareness of Tung Sin Tong’s social services”.
Earlier this year, Sands China said it purchased 3,000 packets of TCM soup from Tung Sin Tong Pharmacy to include in food kits that the group’s Sands Cares programme distributed to the local community in July and August.
The update quoted Wilfred Wong, executive vice chairman of Sands China, as saying that since 2004, Sands China “has donated each year to Tung Sin Tong’s fundraising campaign, in support of its charity initiatives”.
“We sincerely thank Tung Sin Tong for its contributions to the community; Sands China will continue to work closely with local NGOs to actively carry out the corporate spirit of Sands Cares in giving back to the Macau community and building a harmonious and inclusive community together,” he added.
