MGM China Holdings Ltd has donated MOP700,000 (US$87,419) to the Macau Tung Sin Tong Charitable Society, “to support the organisation’s wide-ranging charitable initiatives and social services”.
“This marks the 18th consecutive year of MGM’s support, bringing its cumulative contributions to MOP9.3 million [US$1.2 million],” stated the casino firm. in support of the non-governmental organisation’s (NGO’s) annual fundraising campaign, said the casino firm in a recent press release.
Tung Sin Tong was founded in 1892, and is presently considered one of the most important poverty-relief -focused Chinese organisations in Macau, providing free medical services, medicine, and education to people in need.
MGM China said it “remains dedicated to upholding the society’s ethos of a ‘common wish to benefit society, virtuous atmosphere to welcome all’,” and that it will “continue to champion local charitable work”.
Kenneth Feng, president and executive director of MGM China, was cited in the release as saying: “For over a century, Tung Sin Tong has been deeply rooted in Macau, tirelessly serving those in need by offering free medical services and diverse charitable programmes.”
“MGM shares this dedication to the community and is honoured to have partnered with Tung Sin Tong for 18 consecutive years and to once again support its annual fundraising campaign,” he added.
Mr Feng also said he hoped MGM China’s contribution could “provide tangible assistance to those in need”.
He added: “Moving forward, we will continue working hand in hand with Tung Sin Tong and other social service organisations to help build a more harmonious Macau.”
