SJM Resorts Ltd, the Macau casino operating unit of Hong Kong-listed SJM Holdings Ltd, has donated MOP700,000 (US$87,305) to support the 42nd “Walk for a Million”.
“The company is also assembling a significant team of staff members, along with their families and friends, to participate in the walk,” taking place in mid-December, stated the company in a press release.
The “Walk for a Million” is an annual event organised by the Charity Fund of the Readers of Macao Daily News, a Chinese-language newspaper.
The casino firm said its own contribution “aims to support the charitable campaign and promote a spirit of solidarity and cooperation”.
The announcement cited Daisy Ho, SJM Resorts’ managing director, as saying: “SJM is deeply committed to society and actively promotes a variety of community activities. The ‘Walk for a Million’ is a major annual charity event in Macau, which SJM has consistently supported.”
She added: “We encourage our team members to support actively, lending a helping hand to those in need.”
