Byron Yip (pictured), who in September had been appointed as executive vice president of strategy at Sands China Ltd, has left the Macau casino firm, GGRAsia has learnt.
Mr Yip had been hired to oversee Sands China’s analytics and business strategy, according to a September internal memo. He had also joined the company’s executive committee.
GGRAsia approached the company for comment, but received no reply by the time this story went online. Sands China, a unit of U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands Corp, runs five casino resorts in Macau.
Mr Yip was until mid-September president and chief operating officer of the Okada Manila casino resort in the Philippine capital. He had worked at Philippines-based Tiger Resort, Leisure and Entertainment Inc (TRLEI), the promoter of Okada Manila, for about seven years.
Before joining Okada Manila in 2018, Mr Yip worked for two years at Union Gaming Group LLC, a boutique investment bank and advisory firm focused exclusively on the global gaming industry. He had previously worked at investment house Deutsche Bank AG.
Mr Yip’s departure from Sands China comes amid a rejig in a number of management positions at the company.
In late November, the casino firm named Raymond Voon as senior vice president of marketing strategy and loyalty. Mr Voon served more recently as corporate senior vice president of customer services at Macau market rival Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd.
The November internal memo also confirmed that Virginia Lam, an executive vice president and chief customer officer at Sands China, was leaving the company, after more than 15 years, as it had been reported by GGRAsia.
