Australian casino firm The Star Entertainment Group Ltd has announced that its group chief financial officer, Frank Krile, has resigned with effect from today (December 29).

The firm added in a filing on Monday that the group chief operating officer, Jeannie Mok, had also resigned and would be leaving The Star Entertainment at the end of January 2026.

“The Star Entertainment will commence a process to identify a new group CFO and will update the market in due course,” the document said.

It quoted chief executive Bruce Mathieson Jnr as saying: “I would like to thank Frank and Jeannie for their significant contribution to the business, and particularly their assistance in progressing our remediation plan.”

Monday’s filing also stated that the board of The Star Entertainment had confirmed the appointment of Mr Mathieson Jnr as its group CEO and managing director, subject to receiving the necessary outstanding regulatory and ministerial approvals.

On December 17, The Star Entertainment announced the appointment of Soo Kim as board chairman, with Mr Mathieson Jnr vacating the position and becoming the group’s CEO.

The appointments were confirmed at a board meeting on the previous day, the same day that Steve McCann stepped down as CEO and managing director.

Shareholders of The Star Entertainment approved in June an AUD300.0 million (US$201.6 million) rescue package led by United States-based Bally’s, which has become the Australian firm’s largest shareholder.

Following the transaction, the Mathieson family and Bally’s now own stakes of 23 percent and 38 percent in The Star Entertainment respectively, according to news agency Reuters.

The Star Entertainment operates The Star Sydney (pictured) in New South Wales and The Star Brisbane in Queensland.
