The construction of a second phase for Hoiana Resort & Golf (pictured), a beachside holiday complex with foreigner-only casino on Vietnam’s central coast, is expected to start in the current year, stated the property’s developer and operator Hoi An South Development Ltd in a reply to GGRAsia’s query.
It also affirmed the work would feature over 1,000 five-star hotel rooms, mentioning also there would be a number of beach villas. Currently, the firm does not plan to expand its gaming operation in that new development, stated the company in response to GGRAsia’s enquiry in that topic.
“For Phase 2, we are working closely” with relevant authorities “for land clearance and construction licences,” said the firm. “We expect to start in 2026, with beach villas first,” it added.
Additional second-phase elements were mentioned in a recent speech by Nguyen Vinh Tran, general director of Hoi A South Development. They were: a multifunctional convention centre; a retail and entertainment complex; and a second golf course integrated with a professional golf training centre and academy offering international certifications.
Hoiana has a casino with 140 gaming tables and more than 270 electronic gaming machines, as well as an international-standard 18-hole golf course.
GGRAsia asked Hoiana’s operator whether it is applying to be included in Vietnam’s refreshed and expanded pilot programme for casinos to be allowed to offer gambling to economically-eligible local players.
“Hoiana would like to be selected for the local gaming pilot programme,” the property operator stated.
The company added, referring latterly to an executive government body for the city of Da Nang, that Hoi An South Development had sent “a letter of intent to the government and it is currently at Da Nang People’s Committee,” which is “guiding the company how to apply for it [local gaming pilot programme].”
