The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (Pagcor), the nation’s casino regulator-cum-operator, delivered in early February six patient-transport vehicles to various local government units (LGUs) and a medical institution. The vehicles will help “enhance healthcare delivery and emergency response” across the nation, the agency said in a recent press release.
The beneficiaries include the City of Imus in Cavite; the province of Bataan; the municipality of Libertad in Antique; the municipalities of Ibaan and San Jose in Batangas; and the Lung Center of the Philippines.
The update cited Pagcor chairman and chief executive, Alejandro Tengco, as saying the donation was part of the agency’s corporate social responsibility initiatives to improve access to essential health services in the country, particularly in communities with limited resources.
“These patient transport vehicles can serve as lifelines especially during medical emergencies when time is critical,” Mr Tengco stated.
“This patient-transport vehicle donation programme seeks to help build healthier and more resilient communities,” he added.
Chief medical social worker of the Lung Center of the Philippines, Donnabelle Gonzaga-Arcillo, said in prepared remarks that Pagcor’s donation would help address transport constraints faced by the institution in its daily operations.
Each vehicle is “equipped with basic medical and safety features, including a stretcher, oxygen tank, wheelchair, first aid kit, and navigation system, to ensure safe and efficient patient transport,” Pagcor stated.
In 2025, the agency said it had donated a total of 162 patient-transport vehicles to various LGUs, partner agencies, and other institutions, including 70 units given to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
