Macau casino operator MGM China Holdings Ltd says it launched on February 5 in Macau’s Barra District, an “achievement exhibition” linked to a 2025 China National Arts Fund-supported programme. That progamme is dubbed “Talent Training in Cultural and Creative Design for the Maritime Silk Road”.
The programme lasted a year, being anchored by the casino firm’s “Poly MGM Museum”, described as a “state-of-the-art, innovative technology” museum at the group’s MGM Macau property, in downtown Macau.
The Poly MGM Museum served as the talent-training programme’s academic base. The initiative also organised collaboration with the Palace Museum in Beijing, and the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT). Overall, the programme extended its activities across five key cities along the Maritime Silk Road.
The exhibition “represents a vivid demonstration of Macau’s strategic role as a base for ‘the coexistence of diverse cultures centred by Chinese culture as the mainstream’, actively aligning with and contributing to the national cultural development strategy,” the casino company stated in a press release.

Following 60 days of training and “months of further refinement,” the works of 30 participants have been shown at the exhibition, per the update.
Structured around six themes, the display is said to offer “diverse explorations of the Maritime Silk Road through cultural interpretation, design translation, and contemporary artistic expression”.
The announcement cited Pansy Ho Chiu King, chairperson and executive director of MGM China, as saying: “Anchored on the platform of Macau, participants have embraced the spirit of the Maritime Silk Road, translating history and culture into works of contemporary aesthetic value and cultural confidence.”
As an extension of the project, an ideas-sharing session (pictured below) was also held on February 5 at the Poly MGM Museum.

Jia Ronglin, deputy president of BIFT, said in prepared remarks that Macau “exemplifies the encounter and coexistence of Eastern and Western civilisations”.
“Building on its role as a cultural crossroads, this programme deepens mutual understanding along the Maritime Silk Road, advances design innovation and talent cultivation, and revitalises ancient wisdom and aesthetics in a contemporary context,” he added.
