Macau casino concessionaire Sands China Ltd and Bosco Youth Service Network jointly hosted recently a Workplace Inclusion Navigation Day (pictured) at The Parisian Macao casino resort.

It was under The Sands Cares x SEN Holistic Development Support Programme, a new community project funded by Sands China for the Bosco Youth Service Network, dedicated to providing “holistic development support for local youth with special educational needs (SEN)”.

The company has been collaborating with the network – a Macau-based non-profit organisation – on multiple other initiatives since 2018, said Estevao Cheong Chi Kin, managing board director of Bosco Youth Service Network, as cited in a press release issued by Sands China.

He stated that “to date”, such efforts have “helped 18 SEN participants successfully enter the workforce, with six of them currently working at Sands China, showing how the programme genuinely enhances workplace adaptability and mental and physical wellbeing”.

Wilfred Wong Ying Wai, executive vice chairman of Sands China, was quoted saying: “As a member of the Macau community, Sands China upholds the core concept of Sands Cares and leverages our resources to assist local youth with special educational needs in their continued growth, working together to build an inclusive community.”

Sands Cares covers the corporate giving, non-profit organisation capacity building, and employee voluntary work of gaming group Las Vegas Sands Corp and its units, including Sands China.

Mr Cheong of Bosco Youth Service Network stated: “From Tutorial Group Services and the Bosco Green Store Internship Programme to the Sands Cares x SEN Holistic Development Support Programme, Sands China has built a comprehensive growth support system for young people with special educational needs.”

Participants in the workplace inclusion day at The Parisian Macao visited back-of-house areas, including “the wardrobe operation, team member restaurant, and floral room” (pictured, above), giving them an understanding of the integrated resort’s operations.

Current employees with special educational needs were invited to share insights into their work experience, “conveying a corporate culture at Sands China that celebrates diversity and inclusion,” the casino firm said.

The day included a workshop on job-interview etiquette and response techniques to help participants increase their workplace competitiveness.
