The World Poker Tour (WPT) is to make its debut at South Korea’s Inspire Entertainment Resort, with the inaugural WPT Seoul festival scheduled for October 30 to November 9.
The tournament series will be held in a newly-developed “entertainment space” on the second floor of the Incheon property – a complex with foreigner-only casino – coinciding with the official opening of the new area, according to a Monday press release from WPT.
The location includes a new poker room dubbed ‘YY Poker Club’; as well as ‘Daia’, described as an exclusive junket room; and ‘Ultra Lounge’, a nightlife venue, per the update.
According to the announcement, the WPT Seoul festival will feature 46 events over 11 days, with buy-ins ranging from KRW300,000 (US$202.8) to KRW8.0 million. The schedule is designed to cater to players across a range of bankrolls, the organiser said.
The highlight of the series will be the WPT Seoul Championship Event, running from November 5 to November 9. The tournament will have a buy-in of KRW1.75 million and a guaranteed prize pool of KRW1.0 billion.
The poker series is being organised by the WPT through its official licensee Khartes, in partnership with Inspire.
The YY Poker Club will host the festival in a venue featuring 70 poker tables and a dedicated livestream studio. Organisers said the new facility had been developed specifically for poker events and would form the centrepiece of the resort’s expanded entertainment offering.
