The inaugural Vietnam Poker Cup is be held at the casino of Ho Tram Resort in Vietnam from August 21 to 23. The organisers say the aim is to make it a regular event held several times per year.

The first edition will feature a US$550 buy-in main event and a US$1,100 high roller tournament. There will also be other events with buy-ins ranging from US$55 to US$275.

The event is open to all holders of foreign (i.e., non-Vietnamese) passports. Locals are currently barred from entering and playing in the country’s casinos.

The event has been organised by World Players Entertainment, which is described as the poker operations partner of the Ho Tram Resort’s casino.

“It is … a major milestone for Ho Tram Resort Casino as Vietnam’s first home grown poker event and … we are sure it will become a must-play event for those non-Vietnamese passport holders living in Ho Chi Minh City and elsewhere throughout Vietnam,” said Andrew W. Scott, the chief executive of World Players Entertainment.

Shaun McCamley, president of Ho Tram Resort said: “It is very exciting to be able to host the Vietnam Poker Cup. The year 2015 has been a tremendous one for poker at Ho Tram with the launch of the Ho Tram Poker Room quickly followed by APT [Asian Poker Tour] Vietnam which received great feedback from all players in attendance.”
