Japan-based Sega Sammy Creation Inc (pictured) and Taiwan’s Axiomtek Co Ltd have joined the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers, also known as AGEM, the trade group said in a press release on Monday.

Joining the association are also eight other companies from Europe and the United States, bringing AGEM’s membership – comprised of international gaming suppliers – to a total of 147 firms based in 21 countries.

Sega Sammy Creation, with its corporate headquarters in Tokyo, is a subsidiary of Japan’s Sega Sammy Holdings Inc. The former was established in June 2013 as a gaming machine manufacturer, with a focus on large-sized products.

The parent company has shown interest in bidding for a casino licence in Japan, if casino operations are legalised in that country. Sega Sammy Holdings is already investing in the casino business in South Korea, building a US$1.7 billion casino resort in Incheon. The group is also involved in Japan’s pachinko industry.

Axiomtek, with headquarters in New Taipei City, Taiwan, specialises in standard off-the-shelf embedded and all-in-one computer chip boards for a variety of gaming, systems and machine applications.

AGEM, headed by Konami Gaming Inc’s Thomas Jingoli, is a non-profit international trade association representing manufacturers and suppliers of electronic gaming devices, systems, table games, online technology, key components and support products and services for the gaming industry.
