Gaming testing laboratory and technical consultancy BMM International LLC, known as BMM Testlabs, announced on Tuesday that it has achieved global partner status with the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB).
Belgium-based ISTQB is a non-profit organisation focused on advancing the software testing profession. It confers global partner status on organisations committed to the field of software testing and that promote the testing profession by certifying people in accordance with ISTQB standards.
Travis Foley, BMM’s executive vice president for operations – Americas, said the company would continue to implement the ISTQB certification programme “across its 13 global locations”.
“The benefits to the test lab, and the industry at large, are clear: independently recognised, world-class, qualified testers result in improved quality of testing, increased product-time-to-market [sic], decreased revocations, and importantly, more quality playing time for the patrons and game players,” said Mr Foley in a statement.
BMM, established in 1981, employs about 300 people in 13 global locations and serves more than 400 jurisdictions, according to the company. In Asia, BMM has offices in Macau and Singapore.
ISTQB requires its global partners to have at least three legal entities spread across different places; and that these entities hold ISTQB gold or platinum partnership status. In Tuesday’s release, BMM said it qualified via its representation in, respectively, Australia, North America and Canada.
“We are very proud to have BMM Testlabs as a global partner in the ISTQB partner programme,” said Gualtiero Bazzana, president of ISTQB, as quoted in the release.
“Gaming has become one of the most important industries of the digital era and ISTQB is getting more involved in that domain; and is considering investing in syllabi and exams specifically dedicated to this domain,” he added.
