U.S.-based casino equipment and services provider Scientific Games Corp announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with a company called Apigee to use the latter’s application programming interface (API) management platform in Scientific Games’ casino management technology.

Apigee was founded in 2004 and offers an “intelligent” API platform that enables companies securely to share their enterprise data and digital services. Google Inc acquired Apigee last year, for a total consideration of US$625 million.

According to Monday’s release, the agreement allows Scientific Games to deploy Apigee’s API management software in its suite of casino and slot management systems, enabling the gaming supplier to design, secure, deploy, monitor, and scale its APIs.

“Apigee’s industry-leading solution will make integration with third-party applications easier, more secure, more reliable, and more operationally efficient,” said Scientific Games.

Commenting on the agreement, Catherine Burns, Scientific Games’ senior vice president of gaming systems, said in a statement: “Scientific Games is committed to providing the best possible technology solutions for our customers and this agreement with Apigee, along with our newly launched Partner Programme, underscores that commitment.”

“The Apigee API platform will help us to open up the door for more flexibility in working with third-party providers, enabling smoother integration and better security between our systems’ products and third-party products,” she added.
