Nasdaq-listed casino currency and table games equipment supplier Gaming Partners International Corp (GPI) is to collaborate with BrainChip Holdings Ltd to develop and deploy casino video analytic products. BrainChip is an Australia-listed developer of software and hardware for advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning applications.
In a press release on Tuesday, BrainChip said the two parties have “entered into a global licensing, development and revenue sharing agreement” under which they “will jointly develop video analytic products for worldwide deployment in casino currency security, game table operations and player behaviour applications”.
Under the terms of the agreement BrainChip will receive a total of US$500,000 in licence fees, a non-recurring engineering fee of US$100,000 for products developed under the agreement, and long-term revenue sharing for the sale of the developed technology, according to Tuesday’s release.
In a separate filing, GPI said the project to develop the advanced automated table solution (ATS) also includes Xuvi LLC, described as a data science company “that uses immersive data analytics and automation for intelligent data-driven decisions”.
Commenting on the agreement, Greg Gronau, GPI president and chief executive, said in a prepared statement: “The joint development will provide GPI a stand-alone video solution, and work in concert with GPI’s existing RFID [Radio Frequency Identification] products to provide a robust and reliable solution.”
“With our new table communications hub, GPI will leverage BrainChip technologies, radio frequency identification, and other partners’ technologies to provide real-time immersive data analytics and artificial intelligence for currency security, game protection and trend analysis, accurate comping, and marketing automation,” said Mr Gronau as quoted in the press release.
BrainChip’s CEO Louis DiNardo was also quoted in the release as saying that the opportunity to collaborate with GPI “provides BrainChip a worldwide presence for its technology in the casino gaming industry”.
He added: “Our artificial intelligence expertise is well suited to address the challenges of achieving high quality video analytics in the difficult casino environment. We are very excited about this development.”
Xuvi’s chief executive, Arun Rajaraman, said: “The combined technology will empower casinos with predictive analytics, real-time and accurate comp decisions, secure table currency, protect table games from fraud, improve productivity, and optimise revenues, all using immersive data analytics and artificial intelligence.”
The cooperation between the GPI and BrainChip will see the latter’s video analytic AI technology being integrated into GPI’s casino table communications hub. An early version of such integration was already demonstrated at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas in October 2017, according to Tuesday’s release.
