This year’s Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia, a casino industry trade show and conference, is expected to post a 40-percent jump in the number of attendees coming from Japan, as compared with the 2017 edition.
So said chief operating officer of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, Josephine Lee (pictured). G2E Asia – jointly organised by the American Gaming Association and Reed Exhibitions – is taking place at the Venetian Macao casino resort from today (May 15) until Thursday.
“Besides, out of the 1,800 [gaming] senior executives and decision makers [expected to attended G2E Asia], we are expecting 3 percent who will be coming from Japan,” Ms Lee told GGRAsia.
A number of brokerages say Japan’s nascent casino industry could move nearer to realisation with the possible passage this year of the Integrated Resorts (IR) Implementation Bill.
This year’s G2E Asia is expected to welcome around 15,000 local and international trade visitors, Ms Lee said. “With one decade already under its belt, we are proud to have cultivated a show that now serves as a one-stop sourcing platform and annual gathering point for Asia’s casino operators and entertainment decision makers,” she added.
Ms Lee stated that this year’s trade show covers an area of 37,000 square meters (398,000 sq feet) – “an impressive 30 percent growth from 2017” – featuring more than 220 exhibitors.
According to the organisers, the 2017 event occupied 28,000 square metres of floor space accommodating more than 190 exhibiting companies, and attracted nearly 13,000 visitors from 84 countries and regions.
