Geoff Freeman (pictured) is to step down in July as president and chief executive of the American Gaming Association (AGA), the body confirmed in an email to GGRAsia.

The AGA is a leading lobby group for the gaming industry and a co-organiser of the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia, a trade show and conference for the casino sector, held annually in Macau.

Tim Wilmott, chairman of the AGA’s board, was quoted saying in the emailed statement: “The AGA accomplished many important successes during Geoff’s tenure …  Geoff has built a strong board and a strong team. He leaves us well positioned for future success.”

According to the statement, Mr Freeman will work with the AGA until late July and will take part in the process to select his successor. He will take on his new role at the U.S.-based Grocery Manufacturers Association on August 1.

Mr Freeman joined the AGA in July 2013, after seven years at the U.S. Travel Association, where he had latterly served as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
