South Shore says The 13 Hotel to open by month-end

South Shore Holdings Ltd says it now expects to open The 13 Hotel (pictured) in Macau before the end of this month. The company told the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Friday that it would announce the actual launch date in due course.

South Shore confirmed in its statement to the bourse that it now had all the necessary permits to operate the hotel. The property is situated where the Cotai district – a casino development zone – abuts the residential district of Coloane.

The company outlined it had obtained licences to operate a hotel and a bar, to serve food and drink and to run a health club on the premises. The Macao Government Tourism Office confirmed that fact to GGRAsia last week.

In July, South Shore had said it expected to receive its hotel operations licences “by mid-August 2018”. The firm had previously mentioned July 31 as the opening date for the hotel.

South Shore hopes the property will include a casino. In a filing on February 25, the firm said the casino might open by March 31 next year. The same announcement said the company expected to operate 66 gaming tables, including 50 “high-stakes” ones for the mass market and about 16 VIP-room tables; and approximately 50 slot machines.

Until late June, South Shore was called The 13 Holdings Ltd.
