GLI Macau nod from American Assn for Lab Accreditation

Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) says its Macau operation is among its global laboratory business to be endorsed by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) in relation to an important International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certification.

GLI – a United States-based tester and certifier of gaming machines and technical consultancy – issued a written announcement on Thursday saying A2LA had endorsed GLI’s transition to accreditation under the 2017 version – the latest available – of the ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

That protocol covers general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories worldwide. The acronym “IEC” refers to the International Electrotechnical Commission, a body that prepares and publishes international standards for all electrical, electronic and related technologies.

The A2LA’s endorsement regarding ISO/IEC 17025 covers GLI’s operations in Macau; in New Jersey, Colorado and Nevada in the United States; and in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The announcement said the GLI laboratories were the first such independent facilities to receive such endorsement.

GLI added that the A2LA had assessed the GLI management systems and found no deficiencies.

The announcement quoted GLI vice president Chris Gallo, an executive in charge of technical compliance and quality assurance, as saying: “Compliance is at the heart of our customers’ businesses, so it is essential to our regulatory, supplier and operator clients that GLI also maintains the highest levels of accreditation compliance.”

She added “We work diligently, daily, throughout each and every one of our labs to maintain a very mature and effective management system, which is in place to assure consistently high quality and comparable results across all offices.”
